Applicability of customary international law to the new states

Abstract
Newly emerged states in international
relations can be of three categories: states of peoples liberated from colonial
dependence, states created by the unification or division of existing states,
and states that have begun to carry out new activities for them. The emergence
of new states poses a question for current international law, insofar as these
states find already existing legal norms - are these states bound by these
norms, and above all are these states bound by customary international law
norms. It is this problem that is the subject of the study.
