The ECOWAS court of justice and the prevention of environmental damage to indigenous peoples in the exploitation of oil and gas resources

Abstract
The ECOWAS Court of Justice has since the
reform of January 19, 2005 have been responsible for ensuring the protection of
human rights. In the exercise of this mission, she was able to detect and
sanctioned the damage to the environment of indigenous peoples in the context
of the exploitation of natural resources. She aligned herself with the case law
of other jurisdictions to engage the responsibility of the failing states and
order reparation measures in order to relieve the suffering of the victims.
