Abstract
The dispute over the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands occurred between 2 (two)
countries, namely between Japan and China. Based on a study conducted by the
United Nations Committee for Asia and the Far East (UNCAFE), it was stated that
there is some potential for the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands. The greatest potential
includes Natural Resources (SDA), including oil and gas resources. This
potential is why Japan and China are still fighting over the Senkaku/Diaoyu
Islands. Territorially, the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands are 170km closer to Taiwan
than Japan and China. This has increasingly led to disputes between
regions/countries that are still ongoing today. So that in writing, this
journal discusses the Senkaku Island dispute between Japan and China, reviewed
based on the 1982 UN Convention on the International Law of the Sea
