Authors
Thimmappa
Abstract
This research paper
examines the statutory rights to fair compensation in land acquisition in
India. Land acquisition has been a contentious issue in the country, often
leading to disputes and protests. The paper reviews the legal framework
governing land acquisition and analyzes the provisions related to fair
compensation as enshrined in the relevant legislation. The study also evaluates
the effectiveness of these statutory rights in ensuring just and equitable
compensation for affected landowners. The findings indicate that while there
have been improvements in the legal framework, challenges remain in the
implementation of fair compensation provisions. The paper concludes by
suggesting measures to strengthen the statutory rights to fair compensation in land
acquisition.
