Cybercrime
against women in India has emerged as a serious threat with the growing
digitalization of society. Women face various forms of online abuse, including
cyberstalking, harassment, morphing, and revenge pornography, which violate
their dignity and safety. This paper critically analyzes the nature, causes,
and patterns of cybercrimes targeting women, evaluates the effectiveness of
legal frameworks such as the IT Act, 2000 and IPC provisions, and examines
judicial responses. It also discusses social and technological challenges in
addressing such crimes and offers policy suggestions for enhanced digital
safety, legal reform, and awareness to ensure gender-sensitive cyberspace
governance.
