Right to information act, 2005: Issues and challenges
Author(s): Dr. Ashok Kumar Makkar
Abstract: Right to Information Act, 2005 is the best piece of legislation enacted by the legislature. Even before enactment of this Act, the judiciary on many occasions held that people of this country have a right to know. The Apex Court held that the Right to Information is a fundamental right under Article 19(1) (a) of the Constitution of India. Even after the enactment of Act the judiciary and Information Commissions are busy in interpreting which information is of personal nature and where the public interests are involved. It seems still it is evolving and long way to settle in definite destination.
